OUR CHRISTMAS TREE 2007
We
cut this from our property and yes, it was a tight fit. It's funny how
this came about. The usual place we've gone to cut a tree for years
closed. So we decided to go to a tree farm that is about 20 minutes
away. We got all bundled up because it was cold out and we put the saw
and work gloves and tie-downs in the car and all piled in (including
Erica's boyfriend) and headed out. Well, about a mile from home I said,
"hey, why don't we cut one from our own property." Not that we
have too many evergreens but I was thinking with the price of gas and
all.... Anyway, we turrrrnnnn around (grumble, grumble from the back
seat) and go back home. And we spent the next half hour walking around
oo-ing and o-ing and finally picked one out and then we got the chainsaw
out and cut it down, even though Shane wanted to shoot it down with the
shotgun (he had heard a rumor that a certain grandfather of his had once
done it this way). Erica made some yummy hot chocolate for all of us,
complete with whipped cream, which really hit the spot because it was
really cold and snowy that day. It did take some trimming to get it in
the house, where we all chipped in over the next few days to decorate
it. Shelly and I have been collecting ornaments for nearly 30 years now
and so it is always special to put them on the tree. We have a bunch
that we will give the kids when they are on their own. So now we are
intent on planting a bunch of Christmas trees next year and the year
after, something I've been wanting to do anyway. That's all for
now.
love Dan
