Around 200 volunteers will fan out
Saturday for the second wave of neighbor-helping-neighbor
rebuilding efforts.
Rebuilding Together Saratoga County is
tackling 17 sites this year for its third annual Rebuilding
Day.
Last weekend, more than 100 people worked
in the rain, making ramps, scraping paint, and fixing roofs,
plumbing and floors for low-income or elderly homeowners
across Saratoga County.
Members of RTSC will be joined by members
of local service organizations and church groups, families
and teens.
The work Saturday will be much the same as
the week before, with work sites in Saratoga Springs,
Stillwater, Schuylerville, Middle Grove and Greenfield
Center.
RTSC formed near the end of 2003 as a
local branch of the national group formerly named Christmas
in April.
Its goal is to help low-income owners,
especially the elderly and/or disabled, stay in warm, safe
and decent housing.
The nonprofit group relies heavily on
community support, operating through fundraisers and
donations.
Volunteers use donated or heavily
discounted materials.
