Benjamin Franklin 
-- American Extraordinaire --

America's first foremost inventor, statesman, author, wit, philosopher, Ben Franklin was also America's first Postmaster General and America's first millionaire.

This statue stands in from of the old Post Office, which has been restored as the Pavilion.

 

Union Station

Union Station was remodeled and restored for the U.S. Bicentennial Celebration. It is today a thriving area of shops, restaurants and theatres, as well as the depot for Am Trak, BART, the Metro and various tours.

The yellow-topped vehicle is the DC Duck, which Shane and his grandmother took. The old fashioned vehicle with the red siding is the Old Town Trolley, which he and his granddad took.

Peace

This is one of the two statues at the entrance to the Lincoln Memorial Bridge. One statue depicts war. This depicts peace.

A. Philip Randolph

This bronze statue greets visitors arriving in Washington by train. It honors the founder of the Sleeping Car Porters Union and the civil rights activist who organized the famous 1963 March on Washington.
