Workplace Champion Award Winners

"Workforce Champions are teams who have made an extraordinary contribution and have improved New York State government."

The Workforce Champion Awards were given on October 23, 2003 at the Governor's Mansion. The winners were the New York State Police - TracCS Team and the New York State Office of General Services - Performance Measurement Team.

The Traffic and Criminal Software Team (TraCS Team)

Division of State Police

The State Police coordinate an interagency project to automate the way traffic tickets are processed. The annual process was labor intensive with the same data being entered many times on multiple systems. Accuracy and timeliness were significant issues. Ticket data was often taking over a year. The new electronic system for data entry has led to improved officer and motorist safety, increases in data accuracy, elimination of redundant entry, and improved access to timely data.

This project is a cooperative venture with the New York State Association of Chiefs of Police, New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, New York State Police, new York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, New York State Sheriff's Association, New York City Police Department, New York State Magistrates Association, New York State Association of Magistrates Court Clerks, New York State Office of Court Administration, New York State Department of Transportation, and New York State Office for Technology.

First Deputy Secretary to the Governor William Howard, GOER Director George Madison, NYS Police Superintendent Wayne Bennett present a Workforce Champions Award to the New York State Police team winners.
