Zack
is 14 years old and will be entering 9th grade in the fall. He is a very
tall guy at 6 ft. 2 inches. Zack loves basketball and played in middle
school and will try out for the high school team. Zack was very close to
his grandfather, spending every Friday night with him. "Pop"
would pick Zack up on Friday afternoon and they would head somewhere for
dinner and then to the local video store to rent a movie. Zack once
wrote in a birthday card for Pop, "I hope you don't think I am
getting too old for our Friday nights together, I look forward to it all
week."
Zack was President of National Junior Honor Society and received the
Presidential Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence in both the
seventh and eighth grade. He is a thoughtful young man with a great
sense of community. (Photo spring 2002)
Nick
is 12 years old and will enter middle school in the fall. He loves
baseball and is the "best defensive player" our Little League.
There is nothing better than to watch Nick play second base on a warm
spring afternoon. He was recently selected to play on our "All
Star" team. He shines on the field!
Nick is a social guy who gets in his share of trouble for
"talking too much in school." He has many friends and will
need a social secretary by the time he is 13, although he really prefers
to spend his time with Auntie Tracy. Overall, he works hard in school
and is a real "mamma's boy!"
And now as we go to
press on June 13, 2002, this just in: Nick just graduated from 6th grade
and received the Presidential Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence.

Riley-Beth is 8 years
old and will be entering 4th grade.. She is an avid reader and an
outstanding writer. She loves to write stories, songs, poems, and
jingles. She has recently completed writing her first
"commercial." She
was "author of the month" twice this school year. Riley-Beth
often comes with me to the Breast Cancer Coalition meetings, outreach
programs, etc. and is learning at a very early age how to be an
advocate.
She recently wrote a letter to President Bush to make him aware that
there were starving children in Africa. She also started a petition at
her school to keep her favorite nurse/teacher who was to be replaced by
someone with more tenure. Riley-Beth loves soccer, basketball, and used
to love gymnastics until she broke her arm TWICE last summer.
Rick is a broker for the Copier
Exchange company. He brokers used copy machines, and
sometimes medical equipment. It has often been said of Rick that he
should have been a politician and that he could "sell anything to
anyone." In his free time, Rick likes to exercise, recently losing
45 pounds! He also is the coach of Nick's baseball team and was the
assistant coach on Zack's basketball team.

I
am the Resource Center Coordinator for our state Breast Cancer
Coalition. Our state BCC is a grassroots advocacy organization dedicated to the
eradication of breast cancer. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in
1987, and although she lived with breast cancer for 10 years, we have a
long way to go to end this disease. I collaborate with individuals and
organizations (hospitals, clinics, etc.) to provide support and
educational programs to women with breast cancer and those that love
them. In my free time, I am involved with the kid's schools. I recently
served on the Superintendent Search Committee and currently serving on
the Report Card Committee, Principal's Advisory Committee and School
Improvement Committee. I like to take kickboxing classes at our local
YMCA and enjoy shopping for bargains at flea markets and yard sales! (Photo
