Maureen Larkin Wright - Welcome to My Little Corner of Virginia

This 73rd year....

Brian, you are so bloomin' funny!

This 73rd year... about to change to 74 tomorrow ... has been phenomenal!

It's hard to imagine that the 2009 year could be better on a personal level but I know it will be. Therefore I'm eager to see what unfolds this year and am looking forward to reaching 75.

I view 75 as a major milestone and since I've never been there before, I'm looking forward to the adventure. Now, don't misread me... I'm not in a rush to get there...there's lots of good living to be done over the next 366 days.

Look at all the marvelous adventures you added to your life experience at age 74, and all the wonderful things you've accomplished during your 75th year with your ongoing love affair with National Parks. And I'll bet your famous glass of ginger ale that you're already plotting and planning more of such events.

My life experiences are not big and bold and global like yours. My life is made up of multiple relatively small, richly warm and beautiful, quietly exciting, almost daily events.

Besides, I get the benefits of your photos and detailed storytelling of all your Park adventures (and Elizabeth's), and imagine myself being there. Therefore, I get the benefit of both my own experiences and some of yours.

When I met our brother, Francis, whom everyone else called Frank, he was 75. He was one of the happiest, most content men I've ever known. He was living a rich and full life, surrounded by loving people. Oh yes, I think 75 definitely is a milestone.

Let me repeat very quickly, lest the Universe is reading over my shoulder, that I'm not in a hurry to get there.

Love to everyone...
