Deer Tiptoe in my Back Yard

Dear Family,

Now do you want to hear about those deer which come tiptoeing up the incline behind my house ever so slowly, pretending to be totally at ease and engrossed with their continuous grazing.

Always facing the house, watching for my dogs I suppose, and staying near the edge of the woods, they gracefully wander up behind the shed and on to the apple trees.

One year the only apples they left were too high up on the tree for me to reach (and them too) and so I had no fresh applesauce that year. I don't really mind about the applesauce part .. watching those beautiful creatures from my bedroom window is more important ... and the grocery store carries applesauce.

Which reminds me .. Our local (?) grocery store (Food Lion) does not carry Macintosh applesauce!! White House cannery used to supply Macintosh applesauce .. have any of you more civilized people out there seen any?.

OK end of the deer saga.

Tomorrow you may hear about the pesky possum if I remember to continue with this pastoral theme that Uncle Brian started.

I'm hoping that Michael RI will chip in and describe his bird feeding station and the beautiful assortment of visitors who grace that section of his outdoor space. There is one large, fat grey squirrel who claims Michael's feeding station as his own .. he is the picture postcard kind of squirrel who made all the other ones I encountered during my early morning walks look downright scrawny.

OK, Michael, describe your feeding station and your feathered visitors and deal with the envy of the rest of us.

Goodnight Family,
