Maureen Larkin Wright - Welcome to My Little Corner of Virginia

Maybe Tomorrow

Hi Family,

Yes, the mid-Atlantic region is experiencing a bit of a chill. It has now warmed up to 18 degrees here in Amelia and I'm wondering how Shawn is faring, considering that his state was slated to get a fair scattering of snow.

Catherine Catt's water bowl freezes so quickly that a frequent change from ice to water is necessary (she is an outdoor cat but not by her choice) and the demand for bird food has increased significantly in the past few days as each of my "regulars" seems to have gone off into the woods and brought back an entire family apiece.

Their water supply freezes so rapidly that its impossible to keep them in the liquid form of ice but they really need the water to close the palate' in order to gobble more seed at a faster rate. And, although I hate to be a wimp, I've finally adjusted my indoor thermostat upward to 64 degrees; 62 no longer was marginally comfortable.

In an attempt to make better use of daylight hours, my alarm clock now rings at 7am, I drink one cup of pre-made coffee while getting dressed and am outside by 7:10 for a brisk 15 minute walk before my body realizes what has happened.

This morning, however, upon opening the door to let Gretchen out, an arctic blast caught me and the body said NO ..don't bother getting outdoor clothes on, I'm NOT going out!

Maybe tomorrow. Today is much better spent in the kitchen baking a cake or two to take to work on Saturday.

And that's the news from beautiful, sunny, somewhat nippy Amelia. I'm interested in hearing how others of you are enjoying our little taste of winter.

Please tell.

Love to everyone,
