A late November Thunderstorm |
| Hello Family,
What a fascinating day this continues to be, meteorologically speaking. Here we are just one day away from the month of December and the high temp this afternoon was 68 degrees! Can you believe that? Today has been a gray day all day long, but not a dull, depressing gray .. no, not at all. It has been a complexity of every imaginable shade of grey all presenting in the same moment. I don't think any day prior to today has even tried to squeeze in so many shades of gray, so many hues, so many tints all in one vista as today has done. I happened to glance out the glass storm door this morning and saw what looked like a cloud sweeping across the meadow on the other side of the road. But it was moving too fast to be a cloud. Instead it was a solid sheet of very fine rain that blew on up to the house and completely washed the entire porch floor along with the lower part of the wall. It was a short lived squall which repeated its behavior again and again all day long. When it wasn't busy squalling, the sky was a phenomenal study of the color gray. The warm wind from the south kept gusting at about 20 mph and occasionally even stronger. And the light gray, misty rain would again sweep across the meadow, cross the road and continue right on up to my front door. It is evening now and quite dark except for the occasional streaks of lightening which almost aren't visible through the heavy downpour. Yes, a thunderstorm has been hovering over us for the past few minutes, providing some much needed overdue rain. And the two dogs are huddled so close to my feet that I can barely wiggle my toes. They do not like thunder. I wonder what tomorrow will be like? Love to everyone, Aunt Maureen |
