Maureen Larkin Wright - Welcome to My Little Corner of Virginia

Tonight's Sunset

Good evening, Family,

The pine trees to the west have grown so tall now that they totally block the evening sunsets from my house. I can see the pink color through the trees from the kitchen window but that's all. So I just walked down to the end of the driveway in order to visualize and internalize the beauty that I knew would be waiting for me.

And it was! There were many, many shades of pink reflected in the multiple layers of clouds to the west on my right, and I stood in absolute awe of the beauty of the natural world. It is amazing that the beauty never is the same.

Slowly I scanned the horizon to the south and then to the west.

Omigosh! There it was, just waiting to be discovered. A perfect full moon with bits of wispy strips of clouds loosely covering the lower part of the moon. The entire panorama almost was too much to take in. I was afraid to breathe lest it disappear. I walked over and leaned against the corner fencepost thinking that if I didn't hang onto something solid, I just might ascend directly into Heaven. I stood there and very slowly, kept rotating my vision from east to west until the sunset totally faded, leaving only the moonlight to light my way back up the driveway.

This was one of those once-in-a-lifetime scenes that I simply had to share with you.

Love to everyone,
Aunt Maureen
