His son Brian recalls talking with his brother Francis about red heads and Santa Clause.
The Real Santa has a Red Beard

By Brian Larkin, January 9, 2001

Good morning Family -

In talking about red heads with your uncle Frank, we were chatting about your great Uncle Seamus, who was a red head, and Kathi, who still is a red head. He mentioned that he'd read somewhere that I once had a red beard. Which brought up the subject of red beards and Christmas (Kathi, you will recall this).

One Christmas, when Kathi was perhaps 7-years-old, she became vocally skeptical about Santa Clause and used the existence of all the Santas you see in stores and street corners as proof (she was born argumentative). I explained that "those" people were Santa's Helpers. You could always tell Santa from his helpers because his helpers had white beards and Santa had a great red beard.

So if you see someone dressed as Santa and has a white beard, you know it is one if his helpers because the real Santa Clause has a red beard.
