How our Families Met
His son Brian had for some years been surfing the Internet seeking anyone who might have known Charles Joseph Larkin.
He was hoping to learn something about his father's early days in Ireland. During his search, he left messages on various Irish related bulletin boards
and in genealogy forums.
As the year 2001 was winding down toward an end, a young woman in Rhode Island was doing her own research. Tracy Cole was looking for information about her grandfather
when she hit upon one of those beacons in cyberspace that Brian Larkin had left. Her grandfather's name was Charles Joseph Larkin.
Following is a message to the family by his son Brian of the events that led up to his discovery by Tracy Larkin Cole of the Rhode Island
Francis Larkin family.
This is followed by the flurried exchange of emails took place on one day. Between 8:45 that morning and 7:49 that evening, they went from being
total strangers
to "niece Tracy" and "uncle Brian!"
It was one exciting day for them and exhausting -- and a little intimidating too!
