Dennis Fletcher Larkin Remembered

By Maureen Larkin Wright, September 23, 2006

Hi Family,

On this day in 1937, my youngest brother Dennis Fletcher Larkin was born in Austerlitz, NY. He was the father of Tracy NV, Steve NV, Dave NY, and Crystal CA. Dennis was an extraordinarily bright and interesting man; he was an absolute charmer who never met a stranger. Dennis died six years ago in Colorado. We remember you, little brother.

Somewhere, perhaps in the Genealogy report that UB so painstakingly recorded for all of us, is the date of Dennis' death ten years ago on August 21, 1996. Let those of us who knew him honor his memory at the time of your choosing.

I, myself, choose the entire day. This little brother developed polio at the age of six and spent the better part of a year in bed at home. It was thought at the time that he had Rheumatic Fever but in those years there was no treatment, other than supportive, for either disease entity. His schoolwork was sent home on a weekly basis and, for those first two years, his report card showed only "A"s. He was a bright little kid. UB became his special protector and supporter as Dennis finally and slowly progressed back into health and society.

Love you,
Aunt Maureen
