Family Memory

His daughter Maureen remembers her late brother Dennis on his birthday.
Dennis was my party brother

Hi Family,

Tomorrow is the anniversary of the birthday of my baby brother, Dennis. He was my party brother. Whenever we got together, it was an excuse to celebrate. I am remembering one summer when he was living in Old Chatham, NY. My children, a friend named Bettye and I drove up from Richmond for our semi-annual visit to my mother. It is an eight hour dreary drive and not particularly easy even though it was all interstate highway. The New Jersey Turnpike is pitifully dull and has very little of interest to look at. But having another adult along made all the difference in the world. And Bettye was really a fun person.

Bettye and I drove over to visit Dennis on Saturday afternoon and an impromptu party soon was in the making. Dennis contacted a gentleman friend, we packed a picnic dinner and a blanket into his station wagon and off we went to an outdoor concert in Saratoga Springs. We had an absolutely wonderful time! And it is a lovely memory to share with you.

Love you,
Aunt Maureen
