Transient
Patches of
Life
Between the dunes, ephemeral patches of the
native desert floor are scattered across the Tularosa Basin. It
is here within these transient interdune areas
that almost all life in White Sands exits.
Occasional rains collects here, and here roots can
reach into the water table a short distance below the surface. |
