Rio Grande Cottonwood

This cottonwood is being overrun by the shifting
dunes.
This cottonwood is growing at the edge of
what was an open patch of underlying desert. The narrow remains
of that interdune patch can be seen behind the tree.
The cottonwood cannot grow fast enough to keep
its leaves above the swelling dune. |
